An Artist

Lately I've been listening to MC Chris. He's a pretty good rapper and once I learn to look past his voice then I really started to enjoy him.

Shameless advertisements

So, I'm an amateur rapper. This is basically a shameless self advertisement! What now fools.

That's one of the tracks from my first mixtape. I'm proud of it. Working on my second mixtape at the moment. Just been writing some stuff and hope to get recording eventually.

Tell me what you think.

A game

So, I think I'm addicted to Team Fortress 2. Not really, but it has played a huge part of my life for the past few years. I played the game on and off with Left 4 Dead 1 a few years back, but not until I discovered the competitive scene did I really becoming engaged with the game. Competitive anything requires lots of time. Which is understandable, but I've put a LOT of time towards playing this game. Overall, I've spent ~1300 hours playing this game. Let's put this in perspective: I've played around 54 days total of this game. I've spent almost two months of my life playing this game haha. And I don't think I'll give it up any time soon!

Here's some gameplay of me: (some old some recent)

A movie

So.. holy shit. I just watched one of the craziest movies I've ever seen. It's called 127 hours. It's directed by Danny Boyle, famous for his film Slumdog Millionaire. It's about this hiker who gets his arm trapped by a boulder while on a hiking trip. I won't spoil the rest but it's so good. James Franco's performance deserves an oscar. It was a heart wrenching movie and I neared tears a little. 9/10. Great movie.

Album

So, I think I'll post a classic (in my mind).

F#A#∞ is an album by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. These guys have a very, very unique style. I know of only a handful of artists that have the same style. It's very long, drawn out and beautiful. Most of their stuff is violin, cello, drums and piano. The style on most of their stuff is very dreary. This album has 3 songs and they're all around 15 minutes each. Each of them starts with a cool sound byte that's pretty thought provoking. Each song is orchestrated with crescendos and parts that are very ambient. It's a very VERY epic album.

A Good Movie

Here's a good movie for you!

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is about a handful of friends who owe money to an English mobster. It's made buy Guy Ritchie and is his debut directorial film. You may recognize him as the director of a handful of films: Sherlock Holmes, Snatch and Rocknrolla. Anyways, this movie reminds me a lot of a Coen Brother's comedy, in which everything is very by happenstance. It's a bit slow for the first 15 minutes, but after that, it's very funny and very worth it. I recommend you rent this movie! 8/10

Hurm

Not sure what to post. I was thinking about posting an album I'm trying to get into, but I decided against it. I think I'll post about an album I love.

Donuts - J Dilla.

This album is legendary. That's all I've got to say. Well, I do have more, but I think that I could suffice with just that. Seriously, this album is one of the biggest instrumental hip-hop albums this decade. It's scope is so fantastic and every single beat is impeccable. Modern day rappers still to this day cite Dilla as one of their favorite producers. As a matter of fact, lots of mixtapes that hip-hop artists have been putting out have used his beats (Mf Doom - Sniper Elite, Mf Doom - Lightworks, Kid Cudi -Cudi Get). J Dilla is just that good. Unfortunately, Dilla passed away a few years ago, and this was his final and penultimate album. As a matter of fact, the release of this album was 3 days before his demise.

You like hip-hop? Get this fucking album and experience one of the most influental producers in the game at his peak.

If you love this album already, listen through it. The lyrics speak for themselves. Was Dilla trying to say something before he left? Did he know that this was the end? Some of the snippets he uses are kind of haunting. "Bye..." "Mmmmm, you're gonna want me back in your arms. You're gonna need me one day."

My Show for Now:

Gonna start a new line of posts called My Show for Now:

This month's show is Dexter!

I absolutely love this show. Michael C Hall is a great actor and this show has managed to keep me gripped over 4 series. Impressive. House M.D. got boring after 4. I think it's because it's written so well. If you don't know what it's about: It's about a blood spatter analyst who works for Miami Metro PD, who happens to be a sociopathic serial killer. Not without rules though. He only murders people who have prior murders.
The setup makes for an interesting platform with which to work around. Each season has a specific plot arc and they all are very good. Season 1 is one of the best and it's worth a watch! I didn't really like the first episode, and it's a show that takes a few episodes in order to get into. I urge you to get on netflix and check out season 1 ASAP!

Thanks!

Good morning Blargh.

Well, I get the day off today. Thanks snow. I'd like to take the time to post about another album.

Amusement Parks on Fire - Amusement Parks on Fire

Genre: Shoegaze, Indie Rock, Art Rock

This is one of the only shoegaze bands I can really stand. I tried getting into Deerhunter, Sonic Youth, etc. but they just didn't do it for me. It all felt way too ambient, spacey, self centered, depressing and boring. However, APoF deliver. They have a hugely forward sound that lets you trash around and have fun, and the times with which they are ambient sounding completely fit with the rest of the album and don't come off sounding boring. They sound beautifully constructed and worth listening. If you smoke dope, this album's for you I guess haha. If you want a new kind of rock, this albums for you.

Alright, here it is.

Basically, I'm going to star blogging. I might star posting a bunch of music for peeps and how to get it, etc. So, first off, I'm gonna post about my favorite album of all time:

Madvillainy:

This is the best god damned hip hop album of all time. Probably not but, whatever. MF Doom is my favorite rapper. His wordplay is so fucking ill. His slant rhymes and in verse rhymes and wordplay combined are fucking ridiculous. I love it. How to download: go to google, go to advanced search. Change the site to mediafire.com. Enter the album and artist. Download the one that's around 100MB. Shouldn't be a virus, but I'd check to be safe.
